Spring Break 2013. It’s not getting drunk on the beach in Panama, it isn’t going to Mexico on a cruise, not anything that gets us away from the two feet of snow that just graced us in Kansas City. No, we went to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and are spending four amazing days in a cabin in the mountains. Even though, right now we are somewhat snowed in because we have three inches of snow and still more coming (the roads are winding roads with no shoulder.) Nonetheless, it is beautiful. I am currently writing this, watching the snow fall, anxiously waiting for the fog to unveil the mountains, listening to folk music, and the sweet, sweet sound of coffee being brewed.
Coming out here really lets you reconnect with nature. I swear, I haven’t been on Tumblr the whole time, I actually just found out I had internet reception two days into the trip. However, I wanted to document it all. Taking hikes, seeing the sights, just porch-sitting with and cup of coffee and a good friend all show me the beauty in the little things, the natural things in the world. Nature is beautiful, it’s amazing. I am in awe of what God created. It is all so beautiful. You take things for granted, but reconnecting with nature and seeing the beautiful world that God graced us with shows me that I need to be more thankful. I truly am. God, thank you for everything You have given me. I know I do not acknowledge it enough, but the Earth is beautiful. Your creation is amazing. The quote above, by Martin Luther, explains it all. Your word is not only written in Scripture. Your words are woven through every bit of the universe You have created. Your words whisper through the trees when the wind blows. They shine through dark nights with the stars, and bring color to the world with the flowers. Thank you for blessing me with the people I have in my life, for all the amazing things that are easy to overlook in the world, and I’m sorry that I do overlook them. I will truly try to appreciate Your glory in the world more. I just want to sincerely say thank you, Lord.
